Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program that helps us deal with life’s “hurts, habits and hang-ups.” The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the eight recovery principles found in the beatitudes and the Christ-centered 12-steps. We open the door to healing by sharing our experiences, strengths and hopes with one another. In addition, we become willing to accept God’s grace in solving our life problems. The result: life change!

Through Celebrate Recovery, we are accessing Christ’s power in our lives to overcome issues of anger, grief, alcoholism, guilt and shame, co-dependence, financial loss, divorce, dysfunctional families, sexual abuse, drug abuse, eating disorders, depression, ... the list is endless! We have found hope and help in the power of Jesus Christ!

By working the Christ-centered steps and applying their biblical principles found in the Beatitudes, we are begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with Christ.

Thursday night at Celebrate Recovery provides a safe haven where we come together and truly celebrate what God is doing in our lives. It is also a time of support and encouragement for those who are having a difficult time with finding and reason to celebrate.

The evening begins with a meal (pizza, BBQ, spaghetti, etc.) that is served from 6:00 to 6:45 PM. Then we move into God’s presence during an upbeat praise and worship time, followed by a testimony or teaching. We then break up into small groups for open discussion time. This small group time gives us the opportunity to share our struggles and victories in a safe, confidential environment. The evening comes to a close as we come back together for coffee and dessert.

Life Groups (formerly known as Small Groups) are communities which meet outside the walls of the church in the places where you do everyday life. If you would like to invest in building friendships with other Christ-followers, this is a great step for you! If you want to get connected in a Life Group, or just find out what a Life Group is, send an email to jwhite@chcchurch.org. If possible, please include your phone number and the most convenient time to call.

At College Heights Christian Church we think that everything boils down to doing life together. That is why we have life groups. A life group is primarily a place where people connect with one another, develop genuine friendships, explore the Scriptures, pray for one another, share concerns, and have fun together.

We need to experience life together. Sometimes we need support and other times we just need to recover from life. Life Groups are much more than just a weekly meeting; they are about community. We need others to help us apply the all-encompassing and ultimately satisfying truth of the gospel. As we remind each other about God’s grace and all of its implications, we help each other experience the genuine spiritual growth that God desires to bring about in our lives.
