Haiti Relief

Haiti Relief
January 22, 2010

College Heights Christian Church is heartbroken by the recent earthquake that has devastated Haiti.  It looks like the loss of life may reach 200,000 with many more injured and huge numbers homeless…the need is great!
Please join us in prayer for the people of Haiti and the relief efforts already underway.
As we have done with tragedy relief efforts in the past (Asian Tsunami, Katrina, etc.), we want to respond as a church body. We are in the process of partnering with quality organizations to provide the quickest and most effective aid possible.
We are also looking for ways to help beyond the immediate needs…past natural disasters like this one has shown us that the need for help is just as great three months from now and six months from now as it is today.  Some would say it is even greater because it is no longer in the news or being talked about. So, we need to respond now and later.

Two ways you can help (in addition to prayer):

1. If you would like to immediately give financially, a great umbrella organization that we strongly suggest checking into is IDES. They are a Christian Church organization that partners with people in Haiti to provide assistance to those in need in the Name of Jesus. IDES-International Disaster Emergency Service: www.ides.org

2. We are also collecting supplies (you can find a list on the website
www.chcchurch.org).  You can bring items to the chapel foyer and place them in the collection bins; or on Sunday mornings there will be a collection place in the Gathering Place (Gym).  We will be a collection point for anyone in the area that would like to donate. Please only bring items that are on the list posted on our website.

If there was ever a time to “give a cup of cold water” in the name of Jesus, this would be it!  May God receive glory even in this disaster…and may we be the church…especially now!

Blessings,

Wade Landers (on behalf of the church leadership)
Global Outreach Minister

P.S. We will continue to provide updates during this crisis…please continue to pray for Haiti!
