Men's Ministry

We may be reluctant to admit it but community plays a huge role for men and their faith.
That is why we chose the name VENTURE.  Venture is defined as...
"An undertaking involving uncertainty as to the outcome;
when opposition or resistance appears likely to follow."
Be bold - this is much more than getting out of your comfort zone, this has to do with a transformed life.  But it was never meant for you to do it alone.  You may survive as a Lone Ranger, but you won't thrive.

Provide opportunity for growth in relationships with others and to witness with those outside the Kingdom.
We are wired for adventure.  This adventure may come in different forms.  We grow in community when we participate in shared activities.  Shared adventure can also serve as a point of contention where conversatoin and influence may lead to opportunity to share your story.

Be a natural part of life.  To talk about Jesus and Kingdom matters in everyday conversations.
Have you ever told anyone your story?  Have you ever written it down?  What were you wrestling with when you became a Jesus follower?  Don't dismiss your story.  The Spirit wants to use your voice and your words to influence the lives of others.  Do you really believe what Jesus did for you matters?

To invest in my family so they see Jesus in me
and engage in His story (for their lives).

Your family is your first mission field.  They can give the most honest description of who you are.  They may be able to point out your weaknesses but hopefully they can testify to a transformed life, a life that exhibits the fruit of the Spirit.  Family may be more than just a wife and children.  You may be a brother, son, grandson, uncle, nephew and God desires to use you to influence other generations.

Mentoring is to know the importance of and engage in the practice of learning from and investing in others.
Peer pressure has gotten a bad rap.  We're raised to fight, flee, and resist it.  But we love peer pressure, at least the kind spoken of in Hebrews 10:24, which helps form me into Christ's image.  The primary way we help others grow is by applying this sort of Spirit-inspired peer pressure.  Practically, this means inviting brothers to share life together in order to be influenced by our beliefs, values, and behaviors -- in short, by our commitment to Christ.
To develop the leadership roles God has
given me and honor Him in them.

Our mental picture of a leader may differ.  Chances are you don't even see yourself as one.  Do you believe that you are called by God to be a leader?  To become the leaders that Christ expects us to be, we must get back to a biblical understanding of courage.  The call fo rmen to be strong and courageous is a challenge to engage reality as it is, not as they want it to be.  To learn to trust a greater source than their own to get them through troubled waters.

To take daring steps to develop
an attitude and life of service.
Acts of service are an antidote to selfishness.  We model Christ best when we genuinely love one another.  Often that is witnessed through compassionate service.  This is more than a one-time event; it involves a spirit that sees and acts upon a need.  It is an outward act that flows from a transformed heart.

   Placing ourselves before God
so He can transform us.

Too much of the Christian walk concentrates on the outward responsibility of what is visible rather than on the inward responsibility of what is unseen or hidden.  Transformation requires us to give time to cultivate the inner life with God.  Even the use of the word "discipline" implies developing a pattern or routine.  Your venture into the spritual disciplines may seem awkward or difficult at first.  But there is the need of consistency and establishing and deepening or a person's spiritual relationship with God.
